Breaking New Ground – Repiper’s Vertical Stack Solution Takes Off in Australia

Between August 2024 and January 2025, two Repiper technicians traveled to Melbourne, Australia to support our partner, The Drainmen, in implementing Repiper’s certified Step by Step system. The goal was to provide hands-on training and ensure successful use of our method and tools for relining vertical drainage stacks—something few companies can offer today. 

“Our presence on site meant The Drainmen could immediately take on projects that would have otherwise been too complex. We shared everything we’ve learned over the years, so they didn’t have to reinvent the wheel.” 

The first project we worked on together was an eight-story apartment complex in St. Kilda. The copper drainage pipes had been leaking into the basement for over three years, and no one had been able to provide a long-term solution. That changed when Repiper and The Drainmen stepped in. 

“Within three days, we went from constant leaks to zero leakage. It’s always satisfying to solve something that’s been a problem for years—in just a matter of days.” 

The installation took one week in total. Water was shut off during the day and turned back on each evening to reduce disruption. With our Step by Step system and fast-curing materials, each pipe section cured in just 30 minutes—far quicker than traditional methods, which often require 1–2 hours. This allowed for a faster, more secure, and water-tight installation. 

Repiper’s method is especially effective in vertical stacks, where accessing and sealing branch connections to individual apartments can otherwise be complex and time-consuming.

But this wasn’t just a successful project—it was a successful market entry. Vertical stack relining hasn’t been widely used in Australia, but this case proved that Repiper’s method is not only adaptable to new pipe systems, but also scalable across new regions and countries.
